BIOfutures 03/05/23

In this, the second session in BIOfutures Series II, Aniela Hoitink and I will discuss how innovations at the edge of biodesign, biomaterials, and bio-manufacturing present compelling and scaleable ways to make the global fashion and textile industries more sustainable. We’ll ask how, collectively, they enable a paradigmatic shift in how we create, make, and consume apparel and accessories.

Aniela Hoitink is of the Hello Tomorrow Deep Tech Pioneers (2020) and listed in the Top 100 Women in Fashion Tech (2018, 2019). She is the Founder and CEO of NEFFA - the only 3D manufacturing method for allowing seamless and custom products grown from home compostable mushroom roots and other biomaterials; and of biomaterials pioneer MycoTEX. Her accolades include the GEC Textile Award (2022); EUSIC Reimagine Fashion Impact Prize (2021); Vogue Yoox Challenge Finalist (2020); Global Change Award (2018;) Fashion for Good Accelerator (2017); among others.
