BIOfutures 14/06/23

In the final session of BIOfutures series II we’ll discuss how research at the edge of biomaterials science suggests apparel and accessories might evolve to help monitor and mitigate health and wellbeing issues.

Joining me in this session is Rosie Broadhead, textile designer and researcher specialising in biomaterials for fashion industry applications, founder of material innovation platform SKIN SERIES, and textile scientist at Ghent University. Rosie’s research is focused on the intersection between skin and clothing, textile microbiomes and how we can influence the body through functional materials.  A Central Saint Martin’s MA ‘Material Futures’ graduate, she is former Head of Sustainability at sportswear brand Perfect Moment, and R&D at Rapha, Thom Browne and Aitor Throup. Her work has been featured in peer-reviewed papers and exhibitions during Salone del Mobile Milano, Dutch Design Week, London Design Festival, The Design Museum, and had coverage in Forbes, British Vogue,  i-D and BBC. Rosie also co-founded, the ‘Surface Tension’ platform centred around realising the positive potential of materials on the body.
