Rookies Awards

As a Rookies finalists judge since 2016, it’s always a pleasure to see what the world’s best upcoming digitals artists have entered. Sponsored by Adobe, Autodesk, Dell, Lenovo, and Wacom, among many others, and attracting thousands of entries worldwide every year, the awards have categories including 2D animation, 3D animation, Concept Art, Game Development, Visual Effects, Architectural Visualisation, Motion Graphics, Immersive Media, Product Design and Digital Fashion.

Having previously judged across all entry categories, this year I was a finalist judge on the Digital Fashion and Architectural Visualisation categories. In both instances the overall standard of entry was extremely high, with many exceptional entries both technically and conceptually. Standout entries included Digital Fashion entries Humanesque, Prospective, Avo, Sense of Life, and Cyber Futurism, and Architecture Visualisation entries The Beauty of the Crack, and A Different Direction.

Congratulations and good luck to all this year’s finalists. Winners will be announced at the end of July, including the coveted ‘Rookie of the Year’, ‘Film of the Year’, and Game of the Year’ awards.
